"I went for my pre operation assessment ..."

About: Wexham Park Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I went for my pre operation assessment on 6 January 2009. I was attended to by the nurse, she was excellent. She made me feel at ease and answered my questions cheerfully. As well as giving me an ECG, she took a sample of my blood. The nurse was the only person to take blood from me, that I have not felt a thing she was marvellous.

I also saw an anaesthetist who explained the procedure for anaesthetising me ready for my operation he was very pleasant and reassuring about my worries about anaesthetics.

I then saw a physiotherapist who was extremely kind.

My pre operation assessment was made as informative and stress free as possible.

On 20 January I went in for my operation. The staff could not have been kinder. They immediately put me at ease, they took my details and said that I could wait with the other people or go for a little walk.

When I was called I saw a very pleasant nurse who gave me a gown and white socks and asked me if I was all right, if I had any problems. I assured her I was O.K.

I was then called to see the anaesthetist who went through the anaesthetic procedure with me before going down for the operation.

I was called, I had my anaesthetic, and next thing I woke up with a very kind nurse sat beside me asking me how I was. I told her I felt sick and had a headache and was given something straightaway to cure the problem.

When I was taken up to Ward 8 the staff there were marvellous, I had to stay in over night because my blood pressure was high. The staff treated me great nothing was too much trouble. The fact that I needed to use a wheel chair to be taken to the toilet because I have mobility problems was not seen as a problem they were very willing and very cheerful even after the long hours they had worked. When the staff are attending to you they give you their full attention they make you feel as if you really matter.

The treatment I had from the staff at Wexham Park Hospital I believe to be second to none and I thank them for it.
