"Exceptional care"

About: Broomfield Hospital

Planned admission via Mayflower ward, following surgery put onto Stock ward. Staff were amazing - nursing, cleaning and catering staff. So friendly and caring. The main problem I experienced was that even though the ward is specialist surgical ward, they are obliged toy give any empty beds over to whoever comes in through A&E - mainly elderly and many with some form of dementia. On a 4-bed bay I was the only surgical patient, 3 very old and frail medical patients all with dementia, shouting moaning and incontinent. The nursing staff worked hard to take care of these patients but they took so much time, leaving surgical patients short of the care they needed. Nevertheless, the staff were amazing. St. Andrews OPD is also exceptionally well run and each time I have visited I have been very satisfied with my care & treatment. I highly recommend this hospital.
