"Visit to accident and emergency on advice from 111"

About: York Hospital

I was in York to visit the Minster from Durham when on the way home my daughter noticed my left eye wasn't blinking and I had a droopy mouth, we rang 111 who advised us to get to York accident and emergency immediately. I was seen very quickly by the triage nurse and then not long after I was seen by a few specialist nurses who looked after me till a doctor was available, there had been a football match that day and lots of hen parties in York we noticed, the unit was very busy and the doctors were very stretched. An earlier observation had suspected Bells Palsy but tests were done to make sure it wasn't a stroke,my blood pressure was take regulary and I was also put on a heart monitor. The doctor I seen was lovely telling me I had Bells Palsy, they explained what it was and how they were going to treat it, I was then seen by their boss who confirmed their analysis, everyone who I came in contact with on 11th April were wonderful but especially the inital doctor. NHS is wonderful we need more staff though, these people are worth their weight in gold and deserve a medal and need more help to ease their pressure. We are very lucky in this country to have the NHS and these dedicated hard working people to look after us. Thank you York accident and embergency
