Asked for son to see orthotists due to ill fitting foot/ leg splints. He saw one at school just over a month ago. Said nothing wrong with them just the weather was making his feet swell (think we had had one nice day at this time probably hitting 12c).
His fleeting have been marking so got to see another orthotist who now says not to wear splints until new one's can be cast / made etc. This is now the third time he has been left with no splints and as such cannot use his standing frame which he needs to use to help with his hips.
The service should be more proactive in ensuring that there are no gaps in provision. Because of this my son is likely to suffer both physically and psychologically as he will not be able to go in his standing frame which offers him another viewpoint and will have to sit on his chair all day or lie on the floor.
Also as my son has been having difficulty seating in his wheelchair as he has dystonic cerebral palsy and he went for review we were thinking we would be offered a different type of wheelchair instead he came home from school with a piece of foam.
I think the level of service we have received of late is not acceptable and it's never been great at the best of times.
"The level of service is unacceptable"
