"ENT constuktation"

About: Freeman Hospital

I was made to feel like an idiot by consultant, and they did not give any room for finding a cause for my being there. I pushed a number of things which they initially protested repeating a test result and pointing to it a number of times. It is my frustration with my sinus and ear issues that made me push my cause much to their irritation and after another check they told me to 'pop my ears'(with instruction on how best to do this in fairness) 30 -50 times a day. I feel like they have no time for me and no care as to any cause, I asked them what could be the trigger or cause for any of my symptoms and they said they don't know - how does this progress anything? I am stupid and complaining - what about my medical history, what about my overall health - can these be connected? What about the environment I work in? I had to bring these up and was cut short - to be put forward for counciling(no indication of timescale or anything) - since this I have had my face swell again repeatedly(eye swollen closed and mouth droops), I have been sick with gag reflex as throat and nose swollen when doing faster walking or acitivity. As a specialist / consultant cost more than a GP I and I am conscious of having taken up time that could have been used better for someone else - and feel I am not worth looking into and merely irritating to even go there. I would like to state that I am happy to be told what I should do and not do but this seems to be above the consultant so who is to there to support me with a specialist area of concern if the consultant has to have me persuade him to actually address issues? What about those people who are not able to keep asking in this position ?

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic at The Freeman Hospital, we are very sorry to hear of your unsatisfactory experience. Please be assured that we will discuss the issues you have raised at our staff meetings with all staff, in order that we learn from the things which do not go well for patients. As your review is posted anonymously, we are unable to look into the specific details of your case. However we would be keen to do so and the department would be very happy to arrange a further appointment with a different ENT Consultant for you. If you would like us to arrange this, could you please contact Jean Applegarth, Directorate Manager on 0191 2448516 or a member of the Patient Relations Team on 0191 223 1382.
