"One lets the team down! Horrid Midwife!"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital

After having bloods done and having my blood pressure monitored and sitting in the waiting room for 4 hours, with no updates, there was a staffing changeover at 21.00 I decided to ask the new midwife what was happening or what the next step for me was. I went and stood at the reception desk waiting to be acknowledged. I could see the midwife was with a patient and was quite happy waiting there for them to see to me as soon as they could. Having never seen or spoken to the midwife before I was rather shocked, then upset when they came barrelling down the corridor, stood at the side of the reception desk flailing their arms and shouted “can you just wait in the waiting room, I’ve told you before I’ll get to you when I get to you”. There was a gentleman next to me waiting and he simply asked “do you have a pen I can borrow” at which point the midwife sighed and said “I don’t have time for this, if there’s one on the desk you can have it”. I went straight back into the waiting room choked up, gathered my things and left with my partner, leaving my notes on the antenatal unit. By the time I arrived home I was sobbing.
