"What a nightmare on Ward 32"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

My sister was admitted to ward 32 room 3 on the 7th April 2015 in severe pain. Upon arriving at the ward my sister was checked in and then heard absolutely nothing for some time. Eventually a Dr did turn up to see her and said that she needed some bloods tests. After waiting a further 8hrs the blood was taken but was then told to sit back in the waiting area. Eventually at 10:40pm she was told she could go home but had to be back on the ward the next morning. On the 8th April she returned to the ward after having an ultrasound scan. After sitting for a while we asked when she would be seen by the dr. We were told she was next in line to which she wasn't! We then got permission for her to go up the children's ward as her daughter had been admitted and she wanted to be with her. My sister then got a call to say come back to the ward as you are next to be seen by the dr. How much was this so not true! Yes we waited again for another good few hours before she was eventually seen at 3pm. My sister was so annoyed with the Dr and what the doctor said as they had obviously not read up on her before they saw her, as what the doctor said was what she already knew, and had had for a long time and under St James' with. So all in all over 22hrs on this ward for nothing and to also be told that patients in rooms 3 on ward 32 are not a priority! I think they need to change this as if they were seen within a reasonable timeframe patients would be a lot happier! Seriously need to look at how you treat patients in this room as it was very frustrating and I for one will definitely not go there if ever asked.

we would be pleased to arrange for this matter to be investigated if the patient would like to contact us directly with appropriate details.
