"Poor care service"

About: The London Chest Hospital

I am very unhappy with the service, it's a very dirty hospital you have to ask for them to clean the room. My nan was at the chest hospital, no one cleaned the room in 3 days. Her bloody tissues were on the floor, and also dirty bedding, had to ask several times for it to be collected. She was a dying patient, it wasn't fair how things were done. The ward manager was rude. I directly asked them for the room to be cleaned, and my request was ignored. Extra care should be given to dying patients, they shouldn't be treated like poorly, they deserve all the rights like all the other patients. I am very unhappy that my nan couldn't be given a nice clean and comfortable room were she could spend her few moments. I will never ever forget the horrible experience and I must say I really do hate the bethnal green chest hospital.

We are very sorry to hear of the passing of your nan and would like to sincerely apologise for the uncleanliness of the room your nan was in and for the rudeness of the staff that you experienced. This is simply not acceptable in any instance. We understand that The London Chest Hospital is no longer fit for purpose and does not keep up to the rigorous demands of 21st century medicine and how we care for our patients. This is why The London Chest is now closed. Services that were previously run from The London Chest have been relocated to either the new Barts Heart Centre at St Bartholomew’s or The Royal London Hospital. Both have new facilities where our patients can be cared for in a better environment. If you would like to speak to someone about the issues you have raised here in more detail, please do contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Services (PALS) at pals@bartshealth.nhs.uk or by phone number on 020 3594 2040. More information about PALS can be found on the website here http://www.bartshealth.nhs.uk/your-visit/advice-and-support/patient-advice-and-liaison-service/ Wishing you all the best Barts Health NHS Trust
