My family doctor in the morning felt it was necessary for me to go to A&E at the Lister hospital. I am suffering with a suspected stomach ulcer being very sick I couldn't even keep down water let alone food, I have had stomach pains as well. This has been going on for the last 3 to 4 weeks. Anyway they felt this situation had gone on for to long and I am getting dehydrated and lost a stone in weight . So they telephone the hospital to make arrangements, but sadly, after the telephone operator answered, they could not be put through to A and E. So the doctor wrote a letter to be handed to Reception, and put in a printed list of my medications, and asked us whether we wanted an ambulance to take me to the hospital, we said no we can make our own way their. We were in the waiting room for about an hour, when we were taken to have a stent inserted in my wrist. The nurses were excellent. We went back to the waiting room to wait to see a doctor. It was two and a half hours later before I was called again. The doctor felt around my stomach area and then decided after asking a few questions. They acted as if the whole visit was of no consequence! The doctor then wrote out a prescription for Cyclizine and Omeprazole an item on my list of medication that the family doctor enclosed with their letter to A&E. My husband pointed out that we have these medicines at home, the doctor just patted him on the shoulder and said never mind and walked away. We feel that the hole episode is unacceptable and today(Saturday) I am still in pain. PS did your doctor even received the letter written to Lister A&E?
