I was originally admitted to Wansbeck Ward 10 on 1st February 2015, suffering from severe abdominal pain. From the outset the staff were friendly, supportive and very very caring. During my 10 day stay, I was made to feel like I was the only patient they had to deal with, nothing was too much trouble for either the Ward Sister, the nursing staff, the support staff, and even the domestic staff would go out of their way to ensure I was made comfortable. I wish I could name some of the nursing staff who were outstanding, but to me, they all were! On watching how they treated the more difficult patients, I was amazed at their constant care and concern towards these people, and where most people would have been driven to distraction, they maintained a friendly and professional air. I was very impressed. I later came back on March 3rd to have a major operation, and once again found myself on Ward 10. Not only did the staff remember who I was, but I was treated like a long lost friend. Again, I had nothing but the best care a patient could have. On my down days, they cheered me up, on my up days they cheered me on. I was encouraged at all levels and I believe it was this care that has me returned to almost full health at a much earlier stage. The Ward was spotless, and the domestic staff worked extremely hard to keep it that way, taking obvious pride in their work, and working with a fabulous cheerfulness. I hope I never have to receive intense medical care again, but if I do, I'm opting for Wansbeck. A millions stars to all of them, especially one Sister who was also supportive after I returned home and needed to speak to someone.
