"Time / communication provided ..."

About: Wycombe Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Time / communication provided by the nurses was very limited and, it did however, feel as if time spent was the required time in order to get the appropriate peices of paperwork signed by the patient. All bar one nurse was lovely once they actually spoke to you.

What could be improved

The system of day surgery. Having to be at the hospital for 11:00 for a 16:40 procedure seems insanely badly organised. Other than the standard required communications from doctors & nurses regarding the forthcoming treatment & one visit from a nurse to say what number on a list we all were (which meant nothing - what does 'your 6th' mean?) we were all left to our own devises in a room that just had a chair each. 5.5hrs left on a chair in unfamiliar surroundings is a long time. It's also a very long time when you haven't had a drink since 07:30. Very poor communication and organisation.

Anything else?

After surgery notes to GP were provided - why are these just not posted? I was advised that no follow-up appointment with my GP would be required. Others who underwent similar procedures were advised to have a follow up with their GP in 4 weeks time. I was therefore put in the position where a double check was required. It transpired a check up was needed. I was given incorrect information. Very poor.
