"Confusing diagosis..."

Back in the early part of 2015, I went to Essex County Hospitals Oral Surgery dept. At this appointment, I was told that I couldn't have my mouth operated on under general anaesthetic any more "Because you have COPD". This came as quite a shock to me as I had heard nothing from the consultant I had been seeing for my breathing issues. Neither had I been called in to see my GP about it either and it struck me as being really strange that I would get to hear the news, "second hand", as it were. I came away feeling really angry that I had been given a choice of either "live with it, or have the growths cut out under local". I was also getting more and more annoyed over such info as "COPD" being withheld from me until it suited the hospitals purpose to reveal it. Upon arriving home, I called PALS, explained to them about the COPD thing and they made enquiries for me. Next day I heard from my "breathing" consultants secretary. She claims that letters were sent to myself and my GP in the previous October. Yet neither my GP nor myself received any such things. In the end, I saw my consultant again who assured me that although I have breathing difficulties, I do not have COPD and there was no reasons, in their qualified opinion, why I should be denied general anaesthetic. They also gave me a letter, pretty much stating the same. Again, upon arriving home, I made calls. This time to the Oral Surgery dept. I explained what my consultant had said and also the letter they'd given me. I was then asked to send a copy of it to them. Finally, I have been offered an appointment for an operation on April 10th (this Friday), under general anaesthetic. For this, I am really happy. For the stress and anger caused by the appointment early this year, where I was told of my "COPD", (which I dont have!) I am still really annoyed and am determined to find out where this "Diagnosis" of my breathing issues came from and who came up with this fictitious and potentially damaging diagnosis...
