"Paramedic care for my son"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a relative),

I called the emergency doctor in the early hours of the morning for my young son who had severe abdominal pains. The doctor arranged for an ambulance to be sent round to see my son – the paramedics were wonderful. Joe Mearing and Luke John who came were ever so good with my son, they checked him over very thoroughly and discussed the options with us. The paramedics thought the pain was due to trapped wind but if we were concerned my son could be seen by a doctor from the out of hours service or to wait and see if the pain eased off.

I thought it would be better to wait and see for a while as I too thought it could be trapped wind but was surprised at the severity of the pain my son had. In the event my son did gradually feel better, I was happy with the diagnosis and the reassurances the paramedics were able to give me and my son.

Dear Apple920

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I hope your Son is feeling much better now.

It is always rewarding to hear that our staff are continuing to provide excellent care to our patients when they need us most.

I will pass your kind comments onto Joe and Luke who came to your aid and ensure they are recognised for the care they gave.

Thank you again for providing feedback on our service.

Kind regards

Laura
