"I have been to the hospital for ..."

About: Musgrove Park Hospital (Taunton)

(as the patient),

What I liked

I have been to the hospital for many years for problems with my eyes. I have been through the old buildings and the newer Queen's Building too. I would not be able to see well enough to work or even drive without their continued care. I have found them outstanding (in the corneal clinic) in every way. All the regular staff recognise me and remember what help I need. I can only describe the care as OUTSANDING. I would be lost without it.

What could be improved

I do find the desk/reception staff rather busy and slow to welcome one on arrival. A polite 'I will be with you shortly' would go a long way! You are the first experience one has on arrival! Giving me things to check or read is a bit silly as I come to the clinic struggling to see! Perhaps they don't realise this! Never be too busy to be polite please!

Anything else?

I can only repeat that the care the medical/staff give is outstanding!

Thank you very much for your comments. I have sent them through to the cinical lead for the ophthalmic services. The points you make are absolutely right, and we are grateful for you taking the time to send them to us. We know that the Eye clinic reception is very busy and we are currently reviewing the staffing support and processes in this area. The comments relating to the reception greeting will be shared as part of the current review of services.
