Labour was supposed to be a positive experience, however, the doctor had little communication skills, did not ask for consent, had little consideration for informed consent, had an aggressive and abrupt manner, and lack of respect and consideration for the vulnerability of a woman during assisted delivery. The care the doctor provided was of a very poor standard. Maternity services should be aiming to empower and encourage women during labour and delivery and due to this one doctor I felt belittled, ignored and completely disregarded when it came to decision making. I found it quite traumatic to be treat this way and feel as though I had no say in what happened to my own body, or not even knowing what the doctor was doing to my body as the doctor didn't feel I had a right to be informed about it. As an NHS professional myself, I know this standard of care should not be tolerated. And I would not wish it upon anyone to be treated and made to feel the way I felt on what was supposed to be the happiest moment of my life.
"Poor quality care."
