About: Lydney & District Hospital

All of your staff and I really do mean all are first class. We were treated with kindness compassion and consideration every step of the way. These qualities can only come from personal belief and dedication, training, experience and professionalism, all of which your staffs exude in great quantities. Initially, we were not to know the final outcome with mum but as time went by and difficulties set in your staff ensured we were kept well informed, a plan was formulated, presented and followed. Staff nurse kept us updated on what was a very difficult family time and we were offered every courtesy, guidance and advice. The doctor steered mum’s medication, treatment and well being from the outset and was accurate with their prognosis and timings, all of which we were most grateful for. I have written to your matron and sent personal words within a card of thanks to the staff at the hospital. Finally I can only say you have a special hospital, staffed with truly amazing people who do very special things, in the treatment and care of others. Lydney hospital and its staff are a credit to the NHS and a shining example to all. I am fully aware that core skills and attitudes are within your staff from the outset, however, training, guidance and encouragement is also required and that balance must be correct at Lydney to have such excellent staff doing such sterling work.
