"Amazing service"

My 11 year old daughter had been experiencing, low self esteem, anxiety, depression and was self harming. This is a result of witnessing and experiencing domestic abuse from her father. The abuse had continued after we left him 5 years ago via child contact. She also experienced bullying at school. For many years I had tried to get her some help or support via my GP. The best she was offered was medication after years of begging she was finally referred to a counsellor. This was the biggest set back ever. my daughter was so hopeful that she was about to receive some help only to be questioned by the counsellor about causing her father to be angry and that perhps the abuse was her fault! ! the counsellor then went on to suggest that my daughter should challenge her father about his behaviour. This appointment was extremely damaging to my daughter and did eventually result in the medical ombudsman finding in my daughter favor.

After moving from south east England to Orkney, she was able to self refer to Y people counselling service which have been truly amazing. Her counsellor is lovely, she really connects with my daughter and the positive changes are unbelievable. The counsellor has worked hard to support my daughter to overcome her awful experiance of counselling and turn her life around. I finally have my happy, cheerful, positive daughter back. Her confidence is increasing as is her ability to cope with negative situations. The bullying has also stopped at school. She no longer self harms, has nightmares or anxiety attacks. She is achieving at school, maintaining friendships and finally strong enough to stop contact with her dad.

I can not thank Y people enough for the amazing service we have received. They are everything and more that you should expect from a counselling service. A star service!
