"Made a hard time even harder"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

Unfortunately I have recently had a miscarriage and had to have my overall treatment at Pinderfields' Hospital, my pregnancy of 11 weeks consisted of six trips to the hospital where each time I experienced something appalling. The first time that I had to go to the Hospital was following a GP referral where I had to go to the hospital for an ultrasound scan to check that the pregnancy was not ectopic, when arriving at A&E in the hospital I was seen by the triage nurse who was pleasant, however for four hours I was apparently waiting for a doctor and hadn't had any blood taken, when asking what was going on i was told that I was waiting for blood results, when i mentioned that I hadn't had any taken the doctor arrived and took some after a physical examination. we were then told to wait again so after a further two hours we asked again what was going on and they said that they thought we had gone home so had to call the doctor to see where we were at with our care. we were then told that blood results had come back and i had to stay in overnight, obviously a very worrying thing when in the hospital with a pregnancy related issue. when we eventually saw another doctor a further 3 hours later, I was told that he was happy for me to go home but come back the next day for a scan. Questions: 1. Why was an emergency scan not done in he 10+ hours i was in the hospital? 2. Why was there no communication between Doctors, nurses and myself. The next day we came back for the scan where all the staff were brilliant however we were sent back to ward 32 to wait for the report and results fro the scan where the doctor told us everything was okay and the pregnancy was healthy. however after having further scans a month later in pregnancy i found that there was no baby growing and it was an an-embryonic pregnancy. however when re-studying the report from when we were 7 weeks pregnancy it says in that report that no fetal pole or yolk sac could be seen, how did the doctor not tell us that or pick up on that or arrange for another scan to be done to check the development of the baby. this caused us alot of stress and upset thinking that we were 11 weeks pregnant when in actual fact, the doctor had seen that this was not the case 4 weeks previously and said nothing, we were allowed to think that our pregnancy was healthy and fine when it was clear to someone medically trained that it wasn't. this is disgusting that this was missed, why did that doctor not tell us or arrange anything further. there were many other issues on our unfortunate many visits to the hospital however this one particularly has caused us the most grief as I then had to have a long time off work unpaid as I became ill from the miscarriage and had to stay in the hospital, I feel that this could have been prevented if this had been auctioned sooner then I would have been able t have had different surgical and medical choices. It is really important to me that no other women go though this.
