"A big thank you."

Thank you so much to every member of staff on the Blickling ward for taking such good care of my elderly husband, he was allowed to use the office phone when he needed reassurance that I was nearby. He was taken to all appointments at the N&N & I was kept well informed at all times. The staff do a wonderful job in what at times is a very stressful situation, having been assessed my Husband is now his old self & settling into a care home. I do agree that there is nothing for the patients to do other than to sit in front of the TV, I feel they would greatly benefit from more stimulation, music from their era..etc. The only thing I was unhappy with was most of his clothes being lost in the laundry, I was not informed that all clothes were to be given to the office for naming when I first visited. I find it amazing that the laundry is taken to Wales daily for washing & the food is also delivered from Wales, how can that be cost affective! Having said that, thank you to the Consultant & all staff, you're doing a wonderful job in very trying circumstances.

Thank you so much for your very positive and helpful comments which I have highlighted to the staff group working on Blickling Ward. We are always looking at ways that we can improve the service for our patients and their family / carers and for your information we are hopeful that by the end of May we will be able to relocate the ward into Hammerton Court which is on the Julian Hospital site. This will enable care and treatment to be provided in a more modern ‘dementia friendly’ environment in which we can improve our provision of person centred activities. I am sorry to hear that some items of your husband’s clothing have gone missing, we are looking at ways to improve our labelling system as as you say patient clothing is sent off site for laundering to our main hospital site at Hellesdon Hospital. I am more than happy for you to approach Blickling Ward staff or me directly to look at compensation for any losses that you have incurred. You also raised the issue of where our food is delivered from? Our current supplier is in Cambridge and they use a cook / chill process and we find this to be an effective system in providing nutritious meals. Thanks again for taking the time to feedback to us about your experience of our in-patient service, it is appreciated. Chas Lockwood, Service Manager (charles.lockwood@nsft.nhs.uk) 01603 421727.
