"Waiting Time - Cataract"

About: Furness General Hospital

My father is 84 years old and finally after more than a 6 week waiting time got an appointment to see the Doctor. He was told yesterday that his first eye will be done the second week in June, second one minimum 6 weeks later. I think this waiting time is absolutely disgraceful. He is confined to the house as he cannot drive the car. He is slowly deteriorating with his Parkinsons and now has to wait in total of over 8 months before he can drive again. This is a joke. He has worked every day of his working life and now has to hang around waiting for 8 months for an operation in what could be his final years.

We are really sorry that your father’s experience at our hospital wasn’t what you would expect. We would need some more information from you in order to investigate fully and provide you with a response, and we’d therefore ask you to contact our Patient Experience team on 01539 795497 to allow us to carry this out. Thank you
