i was supposed to be second in surgery for kidney stone so told to eat nothing after supper night before. check-in 7:30 to be collected by noon. no food, no water and very painful kidney stone they couldn't do procedure since CT scan they needed had expired as it had been such a long wait for this procedure and it hadn't been requested when i came for pre-op the week before didn't see doctor before nor after procedure. I had no idea what was going on (eventually i made such a stink that the doctor saw me the following week.) after general anasthetic woke at 9:30 pm freezing cold in basement as no room in recovery area was told. excrutiating pain and nurses couldn't give pain relief as doctors had all gone home for the day. I didn't even know what they had done to me. the nurses were all cleaning up room to go home for the night and annoyed that they were late and couldn' t reach anyone in department to drop me off a 32 cm stent had been placed from kidney to bladder as apparently someone had damaged my uretha near kidney as it was too tight. soonest they could offer for follow up appointment was 3 months later. 3 days later i went to chelsea and westminster where they offered me relevant pain relief and antibiotics which helped I would never recommend Royal Free Urology department
"woke after general anaestheic 9:30pm no pain..."
