"Breast Reconstruction"

About: Whiston Hospital

It has been some time since my Breast Cancer diagnosis (almost 6 Years). Following a Left Radical Mastectomy, Chemotherapy and Herceptin treatment at my local hospital I asked my Breast Surgeon to refer me for DIEP reconstruction. They advised me that the best service was at Whiston hospital. They were not wrong! It took some time to organise but I eventually had the surgery (a massive 8 hours in theatre) and have never looked back. The surgeon is the most kind, professional and superb surgeon one could hope for. The surgery must not be entered into lightly, indeed it does take time to recover, but is so worth it! All the staff in the Outpatients, Physiotherapy team and the nurses are so kind and knowledgeable about the procedure, and all offered tremendous support. I am still attending the Prosthetics department for tattooing and again the staff in there are so professional and friendly that I don't want it to end! I would just like to say a massive thank you to all who have put up with me since my first visit in 2010, my surgery in 2012 and explain what a massive difference to my life they have made.

Thank you for your kind comments regarding your postive experience with the staff in the Outpatients department, Physiotherapy and the nurses. It is pleasing to hear that they were kind and knowledgeable about your procedure, and also offered you support throughout your visits to the hospital . We have forwarded your comments to the Outpatients manager who will share them with the teams involved.
