"GP failed us but the hospital came up trumps"

My 11 year-old son had a temperature of over 40 degrees for two days, despite double-dosing with ibuprofen and paracetamol regularly. A couple of calls to 111 gave us no new information and no help, and the new GP failed to advise a time when he would be seen. We were seen at the hospital within 10 minutes (a shorter wait than at the pharmacist afterwards) and had a thorough check before diagnosis from a friendly nurse. Within half an hour, my son's temperature was down to 38 degrees. Wish I'd gone sooner - the people at the hospital are amazing - would recommend highly.
