"hernia operation"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

I had my first inguinal hernia operation in August 2013.This was keyhole surgery and i was sent home the same day. There was no follow up appointment which is apparently normal. The operation was unsuccessful and i was re referred by my GP .I had a second operation-open surgery this time by the same surgeon.Once again out the same day and again no follow up appointment.I presume this is hospital policy. The second operation has also been unsuccessful. I will not be returning to this hospital again! My advice to anyone with a hernia is not to consider it as a simple operation and also to ask your surgeon how many hundreds of these operations he has done. They are done by a general surgeon who may not have had much experience. Also the NHS may not use the latest techniques. There is a lot of information on The British Hernia Centre Website.I wish i had seen this first!
