"Very frustrated"

About: Leicester General Hospital

After initially getting fobbed off last week by Lri with gastroenteritis. I went back to my Gp who refered me to urology at the General for a CT scan today. Was told to arrive on ward 28 at 9am. Ward 28 happened to be a male only ward so get sent over to ward 29 where the receptionist seems to have no idea why I'm there and can't find any notes about me yet my name is in the board right in front if her! I got seen by three Drs within half an hour who all where very friendly and polite. It was explained to me what was going to happen, possible surgical procedures explained to me and informed I would be going down for my CT scan within 10/15 minutes. Nearing mid day I still hadn't been seen and informed its going to be later in the afternoon so decide to get a coffee. When I get back to the waiting area I am forced to sit on the floor as all the seats have been taken! Not to mention having to listen to a dispute between two staff members about missing paper work and issues with radiology. Finally get a scan at 2.40 only to then wait untill six to be told my kidneys are fine and that it's a bowel problem and I'm constipated and to go back to my GP as they only deal with urology issues! I'm no Dr but I thought constipation meant you can't go to the toilet! I'm just glad to be home dosing myself up with every painkiller I can find!

Dear reviewer, Thank you for taking the time to post your comment. We are really sorry to hear about your experience of our Urology department at the General. Any delays to your treatment should have been explained to you and it is absolutely unacceptable for our staff to air disputes in front of patients. We would like to investigate your concerns and improve our service for future patients. If you are happy for us to do so, please send me your details (name, address, date of birth and hospital number) by emailing Linda.Dales@uhl-tr.nhs.uk. Kind regards, Linda Dales General Manager for Urology Leicester's Hospitals
