"Distressing lack of dignity for the deceased"

If I could make this a minus review I would. It was a disgrace. My son travelled for 2 hours to take me to visit Mum, she had had a stroke the day before. I am on morphine for an injury and have nearly controlled absence epilepsy. Luckily I was well medicated for potential distress. It took us until 2.10 to get up to the ward due to full car parks and my son (my carer) having to leave the lift to accommodate an empty transit chair. He is fit, so he was unbothered. We washed our hands, on the ward. We then spoke to a Nurse, who checked a sheet and directed us. My Mum was dead. She was in bed, the curtain was drawn. She was slumped slightly and her oxygen mask had been left on. A fastidious lady in life, at some point before or during her death she had become, I would guess, slightly soiled. No-one on the staff was there, nobody seemed to give a care. If they died in my home, disabled or not, I would give them their dignity. My son was shocked. Where has our NHS gone? All the machines in the world are no good if nobody cares any more.
