"My chemo nurses stayed on beyond their shift"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / Oncology

(as the patient),

I am receiving chemotherapy treatment at Notts City Hospital. On a Monday in March 2015 they were extremely busy - staff shortages etc and consequently running late.

The nurses were scheduled to finish work at 8pm but it became clear that it would be 9:30pm before the treatment was complete.

They did have other options - admitting me to a Ward, resuming treatment the following day etc (both would have given me personal problems) - but two nurses (Juliette and Sarah) chose to work on instead. Despite having worked long and very busy shifts both remained cheerful, upbeat and professional.

I am very grateful to them both. This is representative of this team.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback about this wonderful team. It is great to hear examples of staff who go above and what can reasonably be expected through their determination to deliver the best possible care for patients. We’ll make sure we share your comments with Juliette and Sarah.
