"Suffering Sciatica for 5 months now"

When I saw the pain management specialist two weeks ago they recommended drugs that would give me relief from the constant pain I have been suffering now for nearly 5 months. Unfortunately, this information has still not been conveyed to my GP despite a recent assurance that it would be!!!! Why don't medical professionals understand how debilitating and depressing constant pain is?
