About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

After visiting a patient on E52 last week I had to write this review. Each day I went in the nurses and ward sisters were sitting around the desk with each of them with laptop in front of them and when you spoke to them they never even looked up and seemed upset that you were bugging them. The HCA only person running around trying to see to the patients and they could not keep up with the buzzers. The patient I was visiting said that no one had been to see him or speak to him all day. Patient said the night staff were more friendly and easy to speak to they took the time to listen to him. He felt he did not get the care from ward sisters or doctors on the ward that he got from the staff at night. I watched what was going on around the ward and seen patients with no covers on them, one trying to get a drink he could not get off table and patients yelling for help and no one coming. I did stop at desk on way out and asked about patient and ward sister did not look at me once and passed me off to staff nurse, without a friendly word to me. They were to busy talking to other staff about another staff member which I did not think was good while we were standing there. I would not let any of my family ever be on this ward. Glad night shift were good to patients and more caring. Needs to sort ward out
