"Excellent proof of what the NHS is about"

About: Dorset County Hospital

We recently moved to dorset and unfortunately had to attend Dorchester A&E department on Thursday with our 2 yr old son who fell off a chair and broke his arm. We were seen within 10 mins of entering the department, assessed by a very competent nurse practitioner and made to feel at ease at a very emotional time. The student nurses were friendly and polite, a credit to the university. My son was x-Ray and put in a cast and within 1 1/2 hrs we were on a ward awaiting surgery. The service, care and attitudes and professionalism of all the staff we delt with was exemplary. A true reflection of the NHS at it's best Thank you

I am so pleased to hear that you had such a positive experience recently in ED and Kingfisher Ward. I know how very upsetting it can be to see your child in pain and whilst we all work in for the NHS, we always try and remember that hospitals can be frightening places for children and their parents. I hope your son is on the mend and back to his usual self soon. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and the kind words about our wonderful staff. Best wishes, Alison Tong, Director of Nursing, Dorset County Hospital
