About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

Today I visited the DGH for a an appointment with the Dermatology nurse. I checked in at the main reception half an hour before my appointment and was instructed to go to Section E, which is ( as you probably know) out of the main entrance down to the lower floor, a considerable distance for myself who has difficulty in walking , I waited in the empty waiting room until 2.00pm, my appointment time, and suddenly a nurse who happened to be passing asked if I was scheduled to see the Dermatology nurse, they then told me that I should have been sent to section B2 in the main hospital! They kindly offered to telephone them and say that I was on my way. Having to walk back up the slope as quickly as I could I finally arrived at B2 where they were waiting for me. I understand that this is not the first time t his has happened and I must say it left me quite exhausted. I have to say that the new system of bookng in seems to be far from satisfactory as with the old system as one was directed to the correct clinic in the letter informing of the appointment The new system seems to leave a lot to be desired and hopefully thought will be given to reinstating the old system which I am sure you will agree is far more satisfactory for patients As today's episode has left me quite exhausted both mentally and physically .
