"Avoid for cosmetic surgery."

About: Nuffield Health, Wolverhampton Hospital

I will keep this short. I went in for a cosmetic operation to 'pin back' my ears. Cost me in the region of £3500, I was 21 at the time. First attempt failed completely. my ears were barely different from before the operation. The surgeon, trying to keep as much profit as possible suggested I should have local anaesthetic this time, despite it being a big operation that needed general the first time. I had the second operation, a small piece of my ear on the end actually fell off after my bandages were removed, i think it had lost blood supply. Other than that my ears were certainly improved. After all the hassle involved I decided not to complain about the small chunk of my ear missing. Anyway, a few months later I would get an infection coming and going on the back of my ear. I shrugged it off as blokes do as it would go away completely then appear again. This went on for almost 2 years so I decided to return to the nuffield to ask if they knew what was wrong. The same Surgeon was adamant it wasn't stitches left in and that I would have to pay £400 for a sample to be tested. I agreed to this at my own cost, then the surgeon sent me a quote for almost £2000... to cover other expenses, bear in mind this is not my fault. I called to tell them it was a steep cost, then all of a sudden they agreed to reduce it to £1000... then I said it's still too steep and what do you know, the cost is now £400... Anyway, I went and had the small operation under local anaesthetic and they cut into my ear and that's right... it was undesolved stitches. All healed and good and so far no more problems. However, the Nuffield still tried to charge me the £400 despite there being no more need for testing on the sample as it was stitches left in by the surgeon. Avoid avoid avoid...
