"My treatment on Sunday March 1st in A&E"

About: Torbay Hospital

I had been gradually getting ill over 4 days with flu like symptoms but on the Sunday I also had chest pains. My wife called 111 and after talking to them they advised me to get to A&E within an hour. We live close to Torbay Hospital and went straight there. While my wife parked the car I went to the desk. The receptionist immediately got me a wheelchair. They told me I would be seen next and within a couple of minutes we went into triage where two nurses quickly made a range of checks. They then took me through to the cubicles and someone came to take blood. A nurse also connected me up to an antibiotic drip and a saline drip. This all within 15 mins of arriving. My wife did most of the talking for me as I felt so woosy. I had a chest xray. The doctor was very thorough and when they had the results of all the tests they explained everything to me and my wife. I was kept in overnight and at lunchtime the next day I was sent home with more medicines to take. The whole experience has left me feeling so grateful for the amazing care I received. Many thanks to everyone in Torbay A&E who helped to make me well again.
