"Paramedic arrived like a knight in shining armour"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a relative),

My Mother who lives in Moreton in Marsh has dementia and subsequently has an infection which had left her more confused than normal. I called 999 and was put through to a lovely nurse who calmed me and talked me through dealing with the situation two paramedics arrive very soon after - Angela and Dave who were wonderful.

The following day I had to phone again as Mum had fallen and I could not move her. Gary arrived in a car like a knight in shinning armour and promptly set about getting her up and comfortable. She had to be admitted to hospital so then three more paramedics arrived in a van and Gary managed to get her into Cheltenham - even though ambulances are not accepted after 8pm, which would have meant going to Gloucester Royal which is so much further away. By this time it was 22: 15!

All in all the service, care that my Mother has been given is second to non - Well done to All especially South Western Ambulance Service.

Hi Gnomist

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I hope your mother is recovering well following her fall.

It is always rewarding to hear that our staff are continuing to provide excellent care to our patients when they need us most.

I would like to pass your kind comments onto Gary and the ambulance crew who came out to care for your mum. May I ask you to contact me on either sara.coburn@swast.nhs.uk or 01392 261 552 at your convenience and I can take some information from you to help us identify the staff involved and ensure they are recognised for the care they gave.

Thank you again for providing feedback on our service.

Sara
