"Rude staff - put my daughter in distress"

About: Homerton University Hospital

my daughter is in labour and the staff told me and her daughter who is 17 that we couldn't wait with her and her partner in the labour room we had to wait in reception, where the floor is stained with drops of blood and is very unkempt. We stated that we have travelled a long way and that my granddaughter wasn't taking up much room but they were having none of it, my daughter who is in labour now was is distress as she was worried where her daughter and mother were - we were also told we could not check in on her as it is a health and safety risk - What? the day before the midwife had told us that we would be ok to be in the room with my daughter, today the extremely rude nurses who seem to have a chip on their shoulder told us to either go home or wait in reception, I think this is wrong , now leaving my daughter to give birth on without the remainder of her family. Whilst sitting in the reception we have see multiple family member enter through to the rooms and none come back out - why is this a different rule for them? we are not going to be running around the room nor are we going to be blocking any exits but we cannot be in the room with my daughter during this stressful time. and the way we are told about this is disgusting. they would not explain anything to us, and certainly did not speak to us in a professional let alone friendly manner. what a terrible place.
