About: Southampton NHS Treatment Centre

(as the patient),

I was referred to Southampton Treatment Centre (CARE UK) in 2014, but unfortunately had to put an operation on hold as I was moving house.

I have since asked for a referrel to The Royal South Hants Hospital, Southampton expecting them to have copies of X rays and two MRI scans, and was astounded to be told CARE UK would not give these to them.

As CARE UK was paid for these by the NHS, surely these belong to the NHS? I have been told I have to go through another series of x rays and MRI scans (thus doubling up the cost to the NHS)

No wonder the NHS is in such financial troubles. ! I would mention that I telephoned CARE Uk and ask them if I could have a DVD copy of the MRI scans, only to be told that these would cost £50 each due to the time elapsed since they were taken.

I am very surprised and sorry to hear of the problems you have experienced in arranging access to X-rays and MRI scans taken within our treatment centre. We are always very happy to share the images we hold with other hospitals, including the Royal South Hants Hospital, and have a procedure in place to allow this to happen.

With regard to requests received (from patients and third parties such as solicitors) for copies of patient records and images, the Subject Access Policy is always strictly followed, which does include a charge for providing the documents requested.
