"Nothing but praise for the bariatric team "

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

(as the patient),

I had a gastric band fitted in May 2009, just under a year after asking my GP if this surgery was available. The whole process involved attending a seminar for information, then an appointment to assess if suitability where everything was discussed and made very clear. I then was given a target date and certain amount of weight to lose, followed by a pre op assessment. Then the operation date. Throughout this whole process all staff were fantastic, they were reassuring, had a good sense of humour and were very respectful and non-judgemental. The subsequent visits for band fills etc were equally good experiences, the dietician Maureen has been and continues to be a great support and had lots of patience and understanding and always gets back to me, even though I may be a bit of a pest. I have nothing but praise for the bariatric team from nursing staff to surgeons.

I would like to extend a warm thank you to everyone on the bariatric team.
