"Amazing team at Peterhead"

About: Peterhead Community Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

Following on from my previous story, five days after the birth of my daughter I was transferred to Peterhead Maternity where I went, primarily to get further support with breastfeeding.

I had been well looked after at Peterhead throughout my pregnancy and knew most of the midwives and support staff. The team at Peterhead are amazing. The hospital is clean with spacious rooms and exceptional hospital food. It felt very much like being in a very good hotel.

It is a deeply personal service, with great empathy and care. They helped me to find ways to continue breastfeeding and supported me even after I had left the hospital until I was well established. I cannot fault their care, they were utterly amazing and exactly what I needed after the traumatic time in Aberdeen.

I cannot thank them enough for helping us, as a family to recover.

Response from Linda Oldroyd, Nurse Consultant, Person Centred Care, NHS Grampian

Dear Woo

I am delighted to hear that your experience at Peterhead Maternity has been so good and thank you for your kind comments. It is great to be able to provide a local service like this to deliver on-going support to new mums.

The staff will be made aware of your feedback and I am sure they will appreciate the fact that you took the time to provide it.

Whilst none of this takes away from the poor experience you had in Aberdeen, we are grateful to you for your efforts to improve things for others and thank you again for sharing your experiences.

Wishing you and your baby well,

Kind regards,
