"Poor communication between hopsitals"

About: Darent Valley Hospital

Having been treated for hypothyroidism for a few months, I had an ultrasound at Fawkham Manor hospital two weeks ago and told that there were some concerning lumps on my thyroid. My GP referred my to see a consultant in DVH's ENT department, which was arranged remarkably quickly and easily. Upon arrival at DVH the parking was quick, the waiting times within the clinic were minimal and it ran extremely smoothly so 5 stars in that respect. However, the consultant could not view my previous ultrasound from the other hospital and so was at a loss about how to continue. I will need another ultrasound (which will take two weeks to book and then another two weeks to meet the consultant again) so essentially my treatment has been pushed back a whole month! I feel that this is unacceptable due to the urgency of my case and the fact that I have important exams in two months time as well! All it takes is a phone call or email to request the information, but I fail to see how the system has not already been put into place I am completely unimpressed and furious with the lack of communication between Darenth Valley and the other hospitals involved as it is my health that is being put at risk.

Dear Ms Zelenka Thank you for taking the time to post this review. We were very sorry to read of how unhappy you are and can fully understand your frustration. However, if you had an ultrasound at Fawkham Manor Hospital and your GP received your results, it would be your GP who has your ultrasound results and not the consultant hence why he could not access them. With regards to the ENT service at Darent Valley Hospital, although based here the service is managed and run by Medway Martime Hospital. We are sure that if you contact them and raise your concerns they will be able to assist you. Regards The Communication Team Darent Valley Hospital
