(as the patient),

I stayed on Ward 30 at Barnsley District General, when I had a tonsillectomy. Most of the nurses were helpful. However, one or two night staff were just sat at the nurses station when I was buzzing.

I think that the standard of care and the communication between staff could have been better.

I was in extreme pain during the night and kept asking for pain relief and did not receive it for about 2 hours after asking. I felt as if I was an inconvenience to them as I kept buzzing for 4 hours and sat in the lounge area, still in pain, nauseous and lethargic. As a nurse myself I thought the care could have been improved.
