"Top marks for Oncology Day Unit"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

I had six sessions of chemotherapy over a twelve week period, each session lasting about 5-6 hours. My fortnightly appointments with the Consultant Oncologist (A O'C) were a pleasure to attend and I always felt that everything had been fully explained. Indeed, the Consultant Oncologist gave me a better understanding of my condition than any of the other doctors (great though they are). The staff on the oncology day unit are, without exception, wonderful. Every one of them is professional and pleasant. If I have an adverse comment it is that they seem to always be rushing about which although suggests dedication and they always make an effort it does suggest the department might be under-staffed.
