"this hospital is a disgrace to the nhs"

About: St Peter's Hospital (Chertsey)

my sisterhad bladder surgery earlier this week I was very worried when I went to collect her none of the staff on the ward were english they all shouted at the patients instead of speaking clearly. When ever we asked them a question the answer was " sorry, I don't speak English" . My sister was desperate to leave only a few hours after her op she told us that she was afraid of getting an infection because the ward was so dirty. I saw balls of dust in the corners and bloody plasters and dressings under my friend bed left since she ha blood taken for analysis. I understand why she was worried. She was in pain but none of the care assistants understood that she needed pain relief , which they should know given that she had surgery 2 hrs earlier. She was discharged without her medicines to take home because no one had bothered to inform the pharmacy. I can't understand why the staff were so unhelpful they did not want to engage with the patients they spent a lot of time using their mobile phones when they should've been looking after the patients. Not a place I want to be treated in. Ever.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments here. We are extremely sorry and concerned to hear your comments about your sister's care and the cleanliness of the wards. This is not the high standard of care we strive for in our hospitals. We would like to discuss this further with you. Please could you contact our Patient Experience Team on 01932 723553 or email pals@asph.nhs.uk. Alternatively, you can contact our Head of Patient Experience and Involvement, Louisa Daly who is extremely concerned and keen to talk you about this in more detail so that we can improve our services and care for our patients. She can be contacted on 01932 726436 or email Louisa.daly@asph.nhs.uk
