My son is a patient of CAMHS his doctor has retired and I have been informed that he is one of at least 130 children who's cases have not been referred onto another doctor, luckily 50 children have been referred onto prescribing nurse....unfortunately we are struggling at this point in time and cannot see anyone until his case is seen in a monthly review and decided if he is a priority case to be seen or not.
The service must have known this doctor was retiring for 2 years and it seems they did nothing to prepare for this outcome, when will these children be treated like human beings and where are the Every Child Matters Outcomes now???
In my opinion CAMHS is being run into the ground by cost cutting. Surely anyone can see this is a service that needs to grow, as there are more and more cases being referred there and now are backlogging into a monthly team meeting where the doctors have not got the time to see them as the workload is too great.
Parents and carers can see it from the outside of the service, and now even the children are starting to suffer, when will it stop?
