"Maternity experience"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Gateshead)

Our first baby was delivered here in March 2015; we had originally been booked in at the RVI and decided to change following tours of both units (despite being impressed with the RVI also). We are so happy that we did- every person we encountered, from the staff running the classes, Pregnancy Assessment, Labour Ward and Post Natal Ward were fantastic. Unfortunately our baby had some minor difficulties at birth, so we also needed the SCBU, and I attended theatre postnatally, so we really got the whole service! I want to say a massive thank you for the superb level of care, support and information we received. We stayed for 5 days and we were given a private room when it became apparent we'd be there a little longer. The staff made a difficult birth and post-birth experience that much better for us, and we oul couldn't fault the hospital at all. We will definitely be retuning if there's a baby no. 2!
