"Very over stretched staff at Pinderfields"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

Earlier this year I was admitted to Pinderfields for an operation on my gall bladder. The staff on Ward G were excellent. However, I felt that there was not enough nurses on duty at any one time - they were very over stretched. I felt that I had to wait too long for this operation, having been in hospital the previous May - being told then the gall bladder needed to be removed, then not to be able to keyhole surgery.

I would very much like to thank all the staff on Ward G, especially Staff Nurse Chris Hays, his care and nursing and compassion were excellent.

The staff on G ward, I felt were rushed off their feet. One day I would not find a ladies toilet that was clean enough to use (due to a diarrhea outbreak). I was appalled to see the nurses having to don rubber gloves and clean the toilets. In the 11 days I was in hospital the ward floor was only wet washed once! I reiterate, on no part do I apportion blame to the nursing staff. But to the severe lack of cleaning staff, and I do not mean a dry flick around per day!
