"Disgusting cleanliness of g5 ward"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

Took my nana to ward G5 this morning for her operation, First thing I noticed was the bedding. Somebody else's Blood on her blanket.. A yellow stain on her pillow ( which I have no idea what it was). When I complained to the staff nurse I was told they "didn't make that bed". I really didn't care who made or makes beds, I just wanted a clean blanket and pillow case for me to remake my nana's bed, I wasn't even offered any clean bedding. Staff sat at the nurse desk gossiping about their antics from the weekend. I know they have every right for a life and are probably over excited about the weekend they have. Surely you provide a staffroom for this kind of conversation?! I did take photographs of the unclean bedding. I will be back up for the evening visit & I will be checking if she has clean bedding on. I do fall in the health and social category myself so I do know this is cross contamination & infection control issue. If no improvement I will have absolutely no choice but to take it further. Absolutely vile that basic cleanliness is poor!

This has been escalated to Matron Julie Pilkington who is going to look into it. You can call her on 01204 390390 and ask for her to be bleeped, or speak to her tomorrow.
