"Lack of privacy"

After an invasive procedure, catheterisation and an announcement of cancer, why does the adult diagnostic unit not have a quiet place for a patient to sit and take in the facts, preferably with a more comfortable seat? Instead, in reality, you are told you have cancer, told to go and get dressed, then told to wait to see the nurse. The only place to wait is in a cramped space occupied by patients and relatives waiting their turn for the same procedure, on hard plastic chairs that offer no opportunity to accommodate the catheter or to recover from the procedure, and no privacy to discuss the shattering news you have just been given. Waiting for the nurse- 20 minutes, nothing. Tracked down an employee who needed asking twice before they understood a simple request where to go to see the nurse. They returned with the instruction that we were to see the nurse (isn't that what I had asked?) and to wait. By now the waiting area was full so my husband was standing in a corridor, still in pain and still not able to be private so he could come to terms with the diagnosis. Eventually we were sat in an office, but no help offered. Then sent to wait outside (back in the corridor as chairs too uncomfortable) till nurse specialist arrived. Still no opportunity for us to talk in private. Too distressed to take in what the nurse said. No written information/contact details. Absolutely appalled by treatment.
