"The worst care I have ever experienced"

About: Southport & Formby District General Hospital

I can only hope that I never have to be an inpatient again at southport hospital.. The list of complaints is too long to put on here but a brief synopsis is:- Having been sent by my GP ( after blood results) to go imediately to hospital with suspected appendicitis .. Arrived at approx 2pm to AEU after many hours I was admitted to ward 10a at approx 8.40..Having been told by surgeon that they would decide if they would take me straight to surgery or go for a scan...I was in exrrutiating pain and asked several times for pain relief but my notes has gone missing .. At midnight I was told I had to move ward . Still no pain relief.. Finally recieved paracetamol and codeine at 1pm.. Moved after 2 am back to the ward I was assessed in.. 3am received saline as was so dehydrated.. By the time I was settled it was gone 3.30 .. At 8 am doctor informed me that they requested at scan and nil by mouth until results.. Moved back to ward 10a? At 8.30am then a further move in the day which I can't remember .. I complained as had not been able to settle.. I went for my scan at 12.. On return was given tea and a sandwich .. I told them that the doctor said not to eat.. They went away and informed me that it was ok to eat.. At 2pm a doctor told me I needed urgent surgery as my appendix has perforated and I had an abcess .. Because I had eaten I had to wait until after 8pm for surgery.. I was told a doctor would come and explain the procedure and sign a consent form.. Never happened so I had to wait in pre op for a form to be found so I could sign.. I woke up in another ward with my personal belongings still unpacked since my arrival the previous day.. And 4 moves later! A list Twice I complained to surgeons that I was denied pain relief by the night nurse even though I had been written up for morphine etc and was only given codeine and paracetamol ( which I take daily for knees) the morning of the second day the doctors found me writhing in pain and unable to breath.. I had an infection.. Waited 14 hours for cannula to be renewed for ' important antibiotics' Waited 10 hours for drain to be removed Missed a round of painkillers due to 1 staff nurse for over 24 patients.. My dressing was never changed After being told by the doctor that they felt I would be better off at home to recover I agreed.. I informed the nursing staff that it would be approx 1pm before I could get picked up.. The staff woke me up and told me the bed was needed and I literaly had my belongings bagged up and I was put on a chair still in my pyjamas within 5 minutes! The irony is that the lady in the next bed had been told she could go home ( only admitted the night before) at least an hour before me and volunteered to sit out as she was not in any pain until her husband arrived.. But they chose to evict me.. I have been home 2 days.. My drainage wound has been leaking badly and I have to wait for a lift to get me to see the district nurse as I know ita infected
