I have been previously diagnosed with an auto immune disease by a different specialist. I had been cared for by this specialist for over 5 years and my pain level was was manageable with the medications they had me take (infusions as well) and exercise prescribed. I came to this rheumatologist at Victoria and the diagnosis was completely different. My medications are different now too. My illness and pain is off the charts. I hurt so much everyday and it's hard to do anything. My previous rheumatologist had run extensive testing to get to the diagnosis and the new one didn't. I feel like I was rushed by the new one and feel like a number in the system.

Thank you for posting feedback on here about your experience of our rheumatology service. I am upset to hear that you are still in so much pain and that you weren't treated in a compassionate way by the new consultant at a time when you needed support most and I am sorry that this was not given to you.

I know that there is very little that can be done now to change your personal experience, however I will pass your comments on to the service who treated you so that they can use this feedback to improve and develop the interactions they have with patients in consultations. Your story should be a reminder to all staff in the department of the importance of listening to patients and involving them in their care plan and will hopefully ensure that no other patients have the same experience in the future.
