"Medical Records"

I asked for a copy of my medical records from Southport and Ormskirk Hospital and duly paid the £50 fee. Some time later the Hospital phoned me and said the records were ready. At this time they stated that it is Hospital policy that records can only be collected in person. I was not informed of this when I ordered the copy records and expected them to be posted (as other hospitals do). To collect the records would mean a 2 hour trip. I think this is a very bad policy and it does not cover situations where a patient has moved away from the trust area or has another reason for not being able to get to the hospital in person.
